@ Erick. I agree with that, too many people tweet just about them. It’s probably also because you and I probably have similar and differing interests so we’ll like some people and others we’ll disagree on.

Seth Godin would refer to losing followers on twitter as “tightening the tribe,” really the idea is to repel people somewhat who don’t resonate with us or our “movement.” (Some people on twitter don’t have a movement, they just blow in the wind )

The anchor text comment was in jest. And since I only have two friends on the list, I know who you’re picking on

Again this was a twitter for sales professionals and business people post. My top 10 crazy and fun people to follow on Twitter would have been a very different list.

Shane! You know telling you would both spoil the fun of it and take the mystery out of guessing.

The comment wasn’t meant in disrespect to anyone as I know many of these people are personal friends of yours. I followed many of them after you spoke at the Meetup a few months ago and promoted your Twitter feed, only to just sigh and shake my head at some of the continual “me me me” tweets.

Twitter is fine for marketing and everything, but I hope you can agree that some folks have a disappointing signal to noise ratio.

Then again, maybe that’s what folks want. I have over 3000 people that follow me on Twitter and I rarely tweet stuff that anyone would consider ‘productive’!

As far as calling “someone” on the list “ego strokers” it’s kind of hard to swallow as I follow ‘em all and I tend to delete people who don’t add value. I’d be curious ( less the gratuitous anchor text ) as to who you were talking about.

Well I’ll agree with some of your suggestions, but there are definitely some folks on this list that are serious ego strokers and/or relentless self-promoters that annoyed me to unfollowing. Just sayin’.
