Active Participant - much too generous. Thanks for the encouragement. Trying to get there. All it took was one or two real life occurances where online media got someone else exactly what I had wanted. There's a quick way to kight a fire.
My profile results say that I'm a Social Media Thought Leader. Honored by the results but not exactly sure I am that much of a SM Thought Leader. I am very actively engaged, yes. And I do use a variety of platforms to reach out to my audience. But I don't video or audio as much as I should/could.

@Mike Andruff Some Meetups are very social and some are social which result in good business relationships. Being in Vancouver I would suggest there are few good ones for you to attend (disclaimer I run one of them with Stephen Jagger)
Interesting quiz, Shane. It really highlights the aspect of taking what's online to the outside world. That's the real value in Web 2.0 - the new adopters of social media aren't able to have an online presence and maintain even a cult respect without taking into the real world.
I definitely fall into the category of "Potential Thought Leader" at this point. Makes me feel like I'm a bit on the right track though.
The survey was well crafted and allowed me to reflect on certain aspects of my work online. Yes, I am definitely trying to build traffic to my site, however, I am also seeing that engagement is very important in progressing. One has to take time to read and take in other people's point of view and teachings. I am finding my ride on the net an adventure everyday. I know nothing of meetups. Are they relevant or a social club - I have lots of social clubs but not enough time?

Sue that's a good point. I will need to further make the distinction between Thought Leader and Potential Thought Leader. If your results stated you are a thought leader then this could also reflect that you have the "principles" of being a Thought Leader nailed down and that if you follow them you can build that brand and the network. I think you "get it" now you just have to "do it."

Interesting quiz. Here's my feedback:
- Makes you think about what you SHOULD be doing, for certain!
- The answers are a bit "leading" in that Cosmo Quiz kind of way - which is amusing but a little transparent.
- Some of the answers are too long and include "and" statements in places where you can't assume a "quizzee" is doing this AND that. This is probably because you want to generally rate/position a response but it doesn't allow flexibility of response.
- I have a blog, a Facebook profile and a Twitter account... the quiz tells me I'm a social media leader but I would disagree with that.
- Having a blog and a Facebook and Twitter doesn't mean you take part in other people's conversations, but the answers seem to lead you to that.
- Can you make a distinction between someone who is a user of Social Media but not yet a leader?
It's a good start, I think, but needs some refinement to be more accurate. Kudos to you for trying something like this!
