Companies are familiar with acting as though they control their marketing message. So they begin with a big plan, and they decide how much to spend and that might work just fine. But if there is a strong mismatch between the claims made and the performance, word of mouth, or sound of Twitter, is likely to begin. The company may wish for silence, but there is no control over the message that&#039;s in circulation. That is the message people will believe no matter what they firm was spending. 
All managers need to experience social media for themselves by being involved. That way one is less likely to make the silly sort of social errors, that generates such negative publicity. Far to few managers have that experience.</description>
