Well said Shane (and Jay…). With social media, it's important to not only share the truth (or else get called out on lying), but it's important to make the truth so powerful that people want to share it with others via social media.

When putting content out into the social media space, companies need to understand (and architect to some extent) how readers will understand the content and if they'll feel compared to share and spread the content. That's part of how viral content goes viral.

And yes, if it's not the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, then the social media world will call you out on this and you'll have a viral social media s**t storm to deal with…not fun.

So true. Just this week I watched some more s**t storms erupt because companies weren't backing their marketing. Viral can be good and bad and if we're in the social web space we better be truthful.
